Mr. Walter E. Zweifel, age 84, of rural Belleville, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 1987 at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe. The son of Jacob and Katie Schindler Zweifel, was born on August 30, 1902, in Montrose Township, Dane County.
On October 21, 1926, he was united in marriage to the former Lena Elmer at Verona. Walter farmed all of his life in Montrose Township and was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Belleville and former Montrose school board member.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Clarence (Bill) Zweifel of Evansvllle, Marvin Zweifel of Belleville, Frederick Zweifel of Brookfield and L. Henry Zweifel, Belleville; daughters, Pauline Jaeger of West Bend, Mary Stampfli of Bancroft and Ruth Zweifel of Belleville; sisters, Mrs. Sadie Sandridge of Belleville and Mrs, Lillian Schwend of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Preceded him in death were daughter, Helen Kuenzi on November 3, 1986 and granddaughters, Sheila Zweifel and Jana Jaeger.
