Thomas E. Powell, 88, of Bedford, Ky., died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at the Bedford Healthcare Center.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1912, in Milton, Ky., the son of Jessie and Goldie Barringer Powell. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Masonic Order, the Trimble County Rod and Gun Club, was a Kentucky Colonel, and served as a Trimble County magistrate for 16 years.

Surviving are three half brothers, Chester, James Wilbur and William Powell; and a half sister, Katherine Jo Austin, hometowns not available.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernice Perkinson Powell; and one half sister, Emma Stockdale.

Services will be at 10 a.m. EDT Monday at the Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford, with burial in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. EDT Sunday at the funeral home.
