Funeral services for Walsie Smith of Chickasha, will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 in the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Walsie Smith was born April 21, 1915 in Pollard, to Thomas Laney and Vera Ethel (Blaylock) Massey. She passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at her home, at the age of 98.

Mrs. Smith grew up in southeast Oklahoma and moved to Chickasha in 1975. She married Ferman Smith on Oct. 17, 1936 in Atoka. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2005.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, Faye; two brothers, Verlon Ray Massey and Thomas Laney Massey; and two sons-in-law, Ronald Cook and Mickey Johns.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters: Margarette Townsend and her husband, J.M., Arlena Cook, Carolyn Nolan and her husband, C. Wayne and Edith Johns; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers: Winfred Massey and Stanley Massey; fours sisters: Joan Hulen, Billie Burge, Patsy Richardson and Delores Neese

The family suggests donations be made to the Baptist Children's Home or to Gideons International.

Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
