Garden City -- Ann M. Depperschmidt, 89, died July 28, 1998 at Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City. She was born Oct. 16, 1908 at Tipton, the daughter of Matthew and Pualine Schlentz Schadegg.

She graduated from Olpe High School and attended St. Francis School of Nursing and Emporia Beauty School. A Garden City resident since 1958, formerly of Olpe, Emporia and Madison, she was a beautician for several area beauty shops. She belonged to St. Doninic Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and was past president of the Eagles Auxiliary, all at Garden City.

On March 30, 1959 she married Henry Depperschmidt at Garden City. He survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Norman Schaefer, Wichita; a daughter, Rita Lancaster, Kinsley; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.

Vesper service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Father Dennis Reed presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Memorials may be sent to the St. Dominic Endowment Fund or Edward County Health Care Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.
