Ruhama Chapline was born 26 Mar 1805 in Washington County, MD., the daughter of Jeremiah Chapline (1756-1809) and Elizabeth Nourse (1765-1846).

Ruhama married Dr. John Cravens 15 Feb 1821 and had 10 children:

Sarah Amanda Cravens (1831-1903) m. 1) James Henry Darnell 2) Wm Douglas MacDonald (1826 - )

William James Cravens 1833-1883 m. Mary Rebecca Ryan
