This family lived in the area that was to become the town of Poteet. The area did not even have a post office until 1886 and was not actually founded until 1910.

These old burials were probably only recorded by the families residing there.

James is the first child and son of Mary Elizabeth Avant and John Anderson.

He is probably buried near his sister, Sarah Anderson, and brothers, Newton Terrel Anderson and Lewis Washington Anderson, who's gravestones were barely readable in 2012; James had no remaining gravestone as of 2013.

Sarah, Newton and Lewis died on the same day and a day apart, probably from a disease such as typhoid or smallpox.
