Renee was one of five children born to Alice and Theodore Rasmussen.
Renee was born in November, 1922, in Willard, Utah. She moved with her family as a child to Salt Lake City and attended West High School. After her high school graduation she worked in the Utah Woolen Mills until she married 1st Lieutenant Kenneth Gale Falkner, USAAF, in February 1944, after his return home from the Pacific Theater in World War II. Stationed in California they began their married life together. After separating from the Service they returned home to Salt Lake City where they raised their family. Renee had three children, Linda, Dennis and Lisa. Employment took them to Denver in 1963, and following retirement they moved back home to reside in Sandy, Utah. Renee served the Lord in many capacities as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Renee loved being a Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Renee was a homemaker and an artist. She was inspired by the beauty in nature. Renee's legacy lives on in her oil paintings, sewing and other handcrafted arts.
On November 3rd, Renee passed away at home with her family by her side, in Hotchkiss, Colorado, where she lived with her son Dennis and daughter-in-law Lori, and her grandchildren Kenda and Chayton. Renee is also survived by her daughter Linda, her husband Douglas Wood, and her granddaughters - Miesha Bechmann and great grandchildren Kyler and Matthew, Becket Wilson, her husband Kent and great grandchildren, Laney and Nicholas, and Ginger Stroop, her husband David and great granddaughters Mira and Ella. As an aunt, Renee is survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as her sister-in-law Bonnie Rasmussen.
She is a beloved grandmother with always a smile to share and a hug to give. Renee gave her grandchildren her undivided attention, and wrapped her arms around them with love and kindness. Her grandchildren were a light in her life and she was their unwavering beacon of light and love.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 9th, at 1:00 p.m., in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N Street, SLC, Utah. Family and friends may visit Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, SLC, and Saturday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., prior to the graveside service.
There is sorrow in our souls, our hearts ache for her human touch and the sound of her voice, we rejoice in her everlasting life . . . there is "love at home" until "we meet again."
