Mr. John Edward Craig, age 93, husband of Lucille Stewart Craig of 1562 Old Buncombe Rd., Union, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Regional Hospice Home, Spartanburg.
Mr. Craig was born in Union, SC October 10, 1920, a son of the late John Craig and Bessie Bailey Craig. He retired from Magnolia Finishing Company in Gaffney and was a member of Padgett's Creek Baptist Church where he was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Mr. Craig was a Veteran of the US Navy having served in World War II Sea Bees and also retired from the US Navy Reserve.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Lewis Craig and wife Frances of Moore; two nieces: Melissa Schoeffel of Charleston and Teresa Hoffberg of Union and a great-niece, Katie Schoeffel of Charleston.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, November 8, 2013 at Padgett's Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
Active pallbearers will be Anthony Schoeffel, Dan Burnett, Reid Stone, Stephen Stone, Charles Craig and Robin Jones.
Visitation will be held 2:00-2:45 PM Friday at the church prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Padgett's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 843 Old Buncombe Rd., Union, SC 29379.
