CROPSEY - The funeral of Margaret S. Thomas, 84, a resident of Westminster Village, Bloomington, formerly of Cropsey, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The Rev. Linda Johnson will officiate.
Burial will be in Cropsey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the memorial home.
She died at 7:09 p.m. Tuesday (March 30, 1999) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Mrs. Thomas was born on June 16, 1914, at Marrowbone, Ky., a daughter of William R. and Mary Jane Cardon Meers. She married Herbert E. Thomas on July 21, 1939, in Lexington, Ky. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mary Jane Roth, Eureka; and Ann Goodlick, Bethlehem, Penn.; one son, William E. Thomas, Monticello; one sister, Virginia Hardy, Groveland, Fla.; two brothers, Wilbur Meers, Stewardson; and Fred Meers, Greensboro, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one son, John.
She attended Western Kentucky University at Bowling Green, Ky., and received her teaching certificate. She taught school before getting married and then became a homemaker and mother.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and Cropsey Women's Club. She was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church, Cropsey.
