CASSIDY John Patrick Jr. John Patrick Cassidy Jr., age 90, died peacefully surrounded by his family on February 24, 2014, at The Manor of Perrysburg. He was born on September 27, 1923, to John P. and Margaret (McLaughlin) Cassidy in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Central Catholic High School. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in Merrills Marauders-China, Burma, India Theater. He was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and 2 Bronze Battle Stars medals. He later became an active member with the VFW and Disabled American Veterans. John was a member of Immaculate Conception Church for over 60 years, and active in the Holy Name Society. He was employed with the Jeep Corp. as a driver for 45 years. John played baseball with the men's Darby baseball league and enjoyed umpiring for Toledo and Metro Umpires Association. He was a very well known bowler in Toledo. He is survived by his children, Michael (Joyce), Kathleen (Frank) Kwiatkowski, Sharon Thompson, Patricia (Dick) Elfering, Timothy (Shelly), Colleen (Steve) Cook, Mary Margaret (Rob) Whittman, and John P. III (Barbara) Cassidy; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; stepsister, Barbara Zigler; special friend, Colleen Kwiatkowski; loving cousins, Jim and Bill Cassidy and Peggy Songer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agatha (Weaver) Cassidy; his sister, Marcella Yager; son-in-law, Charley Thompson, and great-grandson, Patrick Kwiatkowski. Family and friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Friday, February 28 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with a scripture service at 7:00. The funeral will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the mortuary on Saturday, March 1 followed by a funeral mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio and The Manor of Perrysburg Activities Fund.
