Admitted to No. 4, U.S.A. General Hospital, Louisville, KY 5/7/1862, complaint was Vulnus Sclopeticum (multiple gunshot wounds). Prisoner of War, sent to Camp Chase 5/12/1862

Admitted to U.S.A. Post Hospital, Camp Chase near Columbus Ohio 5/13/1862, complaint was Errysipelas (strep infection). Returned to prison 6/19/1862.

Appears on a Roll of Prisoners of War sent from Camp Chase, Ohio to Vicksburg to be exchanged, roll dated 8/25/1862. Captured at Pitts Landing on 4/7/1862. Roll bears the following endorsements: "On board Steamer Jno. H. Done near Vicksbirg, Miss., 11th September, 1862, Rec'd the following named prisoners of war amounting to Ten Hundred & twenty in number. N. G. Watts, Major & Agent for the Exchange of Prisoners of War"
"Exchanged. Wm. H. Ludlow, Lt. Col. & Agent for Exchange, Aiken's landing, Nov. 10, 1862."

Attached to hospital 12/24/1863 as a nurse. Returned to his company 1/25/1864.

Listed as a Nurse for Dr. Young, Post Hospital, Fort Morgan, AL from 12/28/1863 to 1/25/1864
