OBITUARY FOR:
Richard L. Bellettini

MORRIS-Richard L. "Dick" Bellettini, 77, of Morris and formerly of Coal City and Ottawa, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 at the Morris Hospital.

Born March 25, 1936 in Ottawa, he was the son of Mildred (Bry) and Primo Bellettini. He was raised and educated in Ottawa, graduating from Marquette High School with the class of 1954.

Dick was a dedicated retail grocer for many years as the owner and operator of Bellettini Food Stores serving the communities of Sandwich, Seneca, Washburn, Wilmington, Spring Valley and Coal City. He was a member and past chairman of the Illiniois Food Retailers Association. Dick and Peggy also operated the Montgomery Wards Catalogue Outlet and Bellettini TV and Appliance, both in Coal City. After retirement, he spent 13 years working for the Grundy County Sheriff's Department. Dick was also a member of the Coal City Lions Club, a former Grundy County Deputy Coroner, volunteer for the Coal City Fire Department Emergency Squad and board member of Assumption Catholic Church and Coal City Schools. He enjoyed golf, playing cards and cooking, especially his famous rib eye sandwich.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Margaret "Peggy" (Bretag) Bellettini, whom he married Oct. 6, 1956 at St. Columba Parish in Ottawa. He was the beloved father of Karen (Raymond) Berta of Normal, IL; Kirk (Rose-Anne) Bellettini of Seneca, Kerrie (Joseph) Doglio and Karlene (Craig) Benson, both of Coal City; proud grandfather of Nicholas (Catherine) Berta, Alex Berta, the late Taira Bellettini, Britney (Brian) Olson, Loren and Morgan Bellettini, Ashley Doglio, Brianne Doglio, Natalie Benson and two step-grandchildren, Eric and Erin Wilson. Also surviving are two great-grandsons, Dayten Wood and Tanner Wallace, several nieces and nephews and his special Aunt, Mary Zanarini.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.

Funeral services for Richard L. Bellettini will be Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Dr. in Morris to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morris where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Edward Howe, C.R. celebrant.

Visitation will be Wednesday 3 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

As it was Richard's wish, cremation rites will be accorded following Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Immaculate Conception Church or Morris Hospital would be appreciated.
