Owned & operated the Alpine Lodge at Alpena, West Virginia - Was a school teacher.

Julia Louise Dahmer, 103, of Alpena, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 1996, at her home following an extended illness.

Mrs. Dahmer was born Dec. 7, 1892, at Osceola, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Charles J. and Eunice Teter Lantz.

She was married to Adam Thomas Dahmer, who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1942.

Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine Burke, Bowden and Mrs. Craig (Ruby) booth, Philippi; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one infant daughter, Joy; one son, Adam T. "Bugs" Dahmer Jr.; two sons-in-law, Mark Burke and om Stalnaker; and eight brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Dahmer attended the schools of Buckhannon and Franklin, and received certification as a school teacher.

She taught for two years.

For several years, she worked along with her husband in the mercantile business at Glady.

In 1929, the Dahmers moved to Bemis and operated a general store, restaurant and room service for area workers and travelers.

Following the death of her husband, she moved to Alpena and operated the Alpines Restaurant and Motel and was active in its operation until suffering a stroke.

Through the years, she was employed as a postmistress and was a member of the John Hart Chapel of Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a Presbyterian by faith.

Friends may call at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins today from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Tom Jackson officiating.

Interment will in Maplewood Cemetery.

The family suggests expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the Glady Presbyterian Church % Davis Trust Co., P.O. Box 1429, Elkins, W.Va. 26241 or Mountain Hospice, P.O. Box 2145, Elkins, W.Va. 26141 in memory of Mrs. Dahmer.
