Mr. Bishop was a mason and retired in 1978 as a supervisor with J.P. Stevens Co. He and his wife, Allie Mae Moody Bishop who survives him, were married on July 9, 1932. They had made their home in North Myrtle Beach having moved from Greensboro, N.C. in 1985. He was a member of the first Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bobbie Gail Bishop Cordell; grandchildren, Ralph and Lynne Cordell, and Dr. Carey and Beth Cottle of Greensboro, N. C., and Greg and Joye Cordell of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 1996. A graveside service will be held at noon, Saturday, August 3, 1996, in Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.
