Lizzie Maddern was a member of the performing Maddern family that immigrated to America from England in the 1840s. She and her sisters traveled throughout the States performing in a small brass orchestra managed and directed by her father. The sisters later all became actresses and continued performing. Her daughter, born from her short marriage to actor and stage director, Thomas W Davey, was Marie Augusta Davey, whose stage name was Minnie Maddern. Lizzie died of consumption at the family home in St. Louis.
