He graduated from Franklin High School in 1967. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1974 and served with the military police in the Vietnam War. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Science from Western Carolina University in 1974. He held several manufacturing positions in the Carolinas and Alabama and returned to Franklin, NC in 1994. Here, he started two local businesses, Otto Trucking and Tarheel Water Treatment, and was an active member of the Hickory Knoll United Methodist Church.
Carl was a loving and dedicated son. He was well-known for his impressive physical strength, passion for farming and entrepreneurial spirit. He will be missed.
He is survived by his mother, Lula Alexander Kloss, of Franklin, NC; his son, Eric Carl Alexander, of Union, SC; his brothers, Robert James Alexander, and wife Joyce, of Sunset, SC and Richard Cecil Alexander, and wife Janfra, of Lawrenceville, GA; and his sister, Frances Alexander Killian of Asheville, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 18th at Macon Funeral Home located at Iotla Street, Franklin, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Randall Dills, Alvin Doster, Mike McClure, Patrick Rathbone, Gary Gibson and Warren Wiley.
