Davis was the son of William H. Buxton and Mariah Oakes Buxton.

Davis and family lived near Noel at the time of his death. His wife, Sarah Nichols Buxton was buried in Noel Cemetery. Some records show his name as David. Sarah and Davis had seven children, Rosa Maybelle Branson, Bessie Ellen Falls Hayden, Mary Myrtle Smith, Charles William, Susie Nellie Youngblood, Ruby Alta Trutzel Gates, Ozro Rueben.

OBITUARY: Pineville Herald, April 14, 1911 - Davis Buxton, who has been ill for some time, passed away the 14th of April. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery, Saturday.------Davis may have died from consumption (Tuberculosis). Several other members of his family suffered from tuberculosis.

His obituary stated he was buried in Riverside cemetery. This cemetery is now known as Stone Cemetery.
