WHITEWATER-Mrs. Amelia Stelter, 88, the mother of Chief of Police Charles Stelter, died Monday night in the Weidman Nursing Home after a long illness. The former Amelia Ferge was born Aug. 3, 1876, in Westfleld, Wis., and was married to August Stelter in 1899. They farmed near Westfield until 1952 when they moved to Whitewater. Mr. Stelter died in 1959. Survivors are her son; four daughters, Mrs. Edna Cole, Clearwater, Fla., Mrs. Violet Powell, Beloit, Mrs. Neva De- Porter, Whitewater, and Mrs. Grace Sadler, Madison; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mmes. Anna Nelson, Lydia Wiegohn and Margaret McCarthy, and Miss Louise Ferge, and two brothers, Richard and George Ferge, all of Westfield. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Skindingsrude and Lein Funeral Home, the Rev. James Oliver, First English Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be In Milton Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
