Adelaide Abraham formerly of Appleton and a resident of Evergreen Retirement Community, Oshkosh, age 97, died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 1996. She was born August 4, 1899 in Stockbridge, Calumet County, the daughter of the late Bernhard and Helen (Wiechmann) Winckler. Adelaide married Theodore F. Abraham in Tomah, Wisconsin with the brides brother-in-law, Rev. Lewis Skidmore officiating on November 20, 1926. They made their home on a farm north of Medina for many years. In 1956 she and her husband moved to Appleton where she resided until moving to Evergreen Retirement Community in December, 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Appleton; a member of the Womens Society and a member of the Pine Cone Auxiliary of Appleton Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, December 30, 1975; four brothers: William, Richard, Edward and Arthur Winckler; two sisters: Mrs. Lewis (Clara) Skidmore and Mrs. I Vernon (Loraine) Raprager. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School, Plymouth, Wisconsin where she earned her Teachers Certificate with one more year of study. She taught country grade school for five years prior to her marriage. She left surviving nieces, nephews and many friends to including a special niece, Mrs. Harrv (Helen) Hanisch, Oshkosh. Relatives and friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home-Appleton after 4 p.m. Friday until services at 5 p.m. with Rev. Paul Reinhold officiating. Burial will be in the Medina Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. Valley Funeral Home.
