Parker Adams died at his residence in this city on the night of January 29, 1897 aged 87 years. Mr. Adams was born at Belleville, Illinois, sometime during the year 1810. In the year 1832 he was married at Belleville to his brother John's widow, formerly Sarah Kinney, daughter of Governor Kinney. Four children were born of this union, Sophia A., Mary, Malinda and Lizzie. Two now survive, Sophia A. (now Sophia A Healey) and Malinda, (now Malinda Hyatt), both of whom reside at River Falls. Mr. Adams survived his wife some ten years. The deceased spent the first forty-five years of his life at and around Belleville, his native place, and in the year 1855 removed to River Falls, living at that place until 1863 when he took up his residence at Prescott, where he has ever since resided. Soon after coming to Prescott, he was elected a justice of the peace, and continued in that office until his death: thus for a period of about 35 years he administered justice to his fellow men and during that long stretch of time, almost every one in this vicinity sometime during his or her chad come before him either as a litigant, juror or witness and became familiarly know to the public as Squire Adams. In giving his decision he bad a quaint way of expressing himself, but mentally his decisions were sound, and generally were affirmed on an appeal. Personally, Squire Adams was a genial, kindly, courtly, and dignified gentleman of the old school. And it is safe to say that with his death there has passed away almost the last link in this vicinity that binds the decade of the past with the present generation. He was a survivor of the Black Hawk was of 1832 and a companion in arms of Abraham Lincoln. Con.
