Merry Lu Barnett McLeod Tuggle, age 79 of Shannon Hills died November 1 at Saline Memorial Hospice House. She was born November 22, 1933 in Spokane, Washington and spent her childhood in Berkeley, California before moving to Mulvane, KS as a teenager. After graduating from Mulvane High School, she married Don McLeod and went to work for Mulvane State Bank. After they divorced in 1962, she raised her two daughters in Pittsburg, Kansas, while working at the National Bank of Pittsburg. In 1974 she married Alvie D. Tuggle of Little Rock, and they moved to Shannon Hills, Arkansas. She continued her banking career at Union National Bank of Little Rock, and also worked to bring together a blended family of six mostly grown children, who have rewarded her efforts with love and respect. Some of her happiest days were spent after she and Alvie retired, when they lived as "full-timers" in their travel trailer in many locations across the country, always returning to their favorite spots in Arkansas, including Toad Suck and Maumelle parks. Lifelong friendships and countless happy memories were built on the road. When their health declined, they returned to their home in Shannon Hills. Following Alvie's death in 2004, she enjoyed her life there with her beloved dog, Lady. Merry is survived by one sister, Donna Simpson of Salina, Kansas, two daughters, Jenny Carlisle -husband James of Benton and Toni Maturo-husband Tony of Fort Worth, Texas; two stepsons, A.O.(Don) Tuggle - wife Edie of Bryant and A.D.Tuggle jr. (Buddy)-wife Donna of Greenbrier; two step-daughters, Maleta Pitts-husband Buddie Earl of Traskwood, and Shirley Strange-husband Robert of Prosper, Texas. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 5 at Fairplay Cemetery led by Jeff Christmas of the Paron Church of Christ.
