Hazel A. Wentzel, 79, of 3795 Route 414 Highway, Jersey Mills, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Gatehouse, with her loving family by her side.
Born Dec. 17, 1929, in Jersey Shore, she was the daughter of Donald Swarthout and the former Martha Anna Perry.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. (Jack) Wentzel, March 2, 2009; they were united in marriage, April 17, 1948, in Williamsport.
For many years, she attended the Jersey Mills Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She often shared fond memories of growing up and living on the family farm in Wellsboro.
Surviving are two sons, Ernest S. (Elizabeth) Wentzel of Montoursville, and Perry C. Wentzel of Pelham, N.H.; three daughters, Renee J. Greenwell of South Williamsport, Dawn L. (Scott) Welteroth of Jersey Mills and Susette A. (Ken Williams) Wentzel of Waterville; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Guy Swarthout of Williamsport; two sisters, Nancy Lockard of Linden and Constance Swarthout of Jersey Mills.
