Irene was the daughter of William Dixon Sprenkel & Caroline "Carrie" Goss.

She married Herman George Kratz on 21 Jun 1919 in Coshocton Co., OH.

Irene's obituary in the 11 Feb 1974 Dover Daily Reporter includes: "Surviving in addition to her husband, to whom she was married 57 years, are three daughters, Mrs. Dallas (Edna) Korns, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Barnhuose and Mrs. Ronald (Diana) Rearic, all of RD 4; two sisers and two brothers, Mrs. Elwood (Gladys) Shearn, Raymond and Harry Sprenkel of here and Mrs. Jack (Glenda) Rider of Zanesville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, a sister and two brothers are deceased."

The son who preceded her in death was Clarence Wayne, who died from injuries sustained in a plane crash while serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
