Paul married Alberta Huizenga on February 16, 1951 at the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1985. Paul farmed his entire life in Shadeland, IN. He was a co-founder of the Union Township, Shadeland Fire Department in 1961 and was fire chief for 25 years. He was a member of the Tri-County Fire Association. Paul served on the road and planning committees for the town of Shadeland and the building committee for McCutcheon High School. He was a member of Farm Bureau, 4-H Exhibit Association, Tippecanoe County Pork Producers, and Fraternal Order of Police. He was involved in many community activities and civic organizations.
Surviving are his children, Michael L. Kuipers (wife, Donna), Gary D. Kuipers, and Jean A. Mull (husband, Brent) all of Lafayette; a sister, Mary Plantenga (husband, Harold) of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Christopher Kuipers (companion, Amanda), Kenneth Kuipers, and Amy Mull all of Lafayette and Bradley Mull of Evansville; and two great-granddaughters, Kaelyn and Miley Kuipers. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brian Mull.
