The Berrien County record carried a death notice for Van Buren Clendenen on 18 Nov 1886 and it reads: "Mr. Van Buren Clendenen died at his home in the township Thursday evening. It was he whose marriage to Mrs. Mary Kenniston was announced in these columns Nov. 4." Since this paper was published on Thursday it would appear he died the Thursday before which would have been the 11th.
