Mrs. Annie Louise Mott Carlton passed away peacefully after a brief illness Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at the West Vue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 6 days.
Mrs. Annie was born Feb. 25, 1929, in Hathaway, Tenn., by Howard Cache Mott and Katherine Bargery Mott. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marvin Ralph Carlton, May 6, 1950, in Piggott, Ark. Mr. Carlton preceded her in death Feb. 24, 2005.
Mrs. Annie was a lifelong resident of the Bootheel area and attended school in Caruthersville. She was a loving wife and mother and dedicated her life to raising and nurturing her family. She was fun-loving and outgoing and was always willing to help others in need. She was an active member of the Central Church of Christ and was always involved with church activities throughout her life. She was retired from Brown Shoe Co.
Mrs. Annie is survived by her daughters, Sue Ann Baird and her husband, Norval, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Kim Hall and her husband, Ken, of Newbern, Tenn.; a son, Alan Carlton and his finance, Debbie K. Wilson, of West Plains, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Earlene Atchison, Mrs. Melba Faulkner, Mrs. Peggy Rowell and Mrs. Patricia Guest, all of Caruthersville; two brothers, James G. Mott of Caruthersville and Bobby W. Mott of Hayti; three granddaughters, Devan K. Keogh, Merideth B. Baird and Anna Katherine "Kate" Hall; and one grandson, Colby C. Hall; one great-granddaughter, Monroe Taylor Baird, four step-children, Kellie Horner, Jennifer Reed, Cassie Williams and Chelsey Williams; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Addisyn, Jaydin and Avery Jo Williams; as well as a multitude of other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Katherine Mott and two brothers, Jerry R. Mott and Cletus R. Mott.
Visitation for Mrs. Carlton was Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville. Funeral services were held immediately following the visitation, with Bro. Mike McDaniel officiating. Interment was in Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Michael Rowell, Parker Faulkner, Terry Atchison, Stoney Cook, Tyler Grissom and Randy Guest.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
