Elouise E. Villhauer, 83, of 320 E. Washington St. died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at Overland Park Regional Hospital in Overland Park, Kan., following a sudden illness. Memorial services are 10 a.m. Friday at the Lensing Funeral amp; Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave. in Iowa City. The Rev. Doug Cue will officiate. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or the Iowa Department for the Blind. Mrs. Villhauer was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Cedar Bluff, the daughter of Harry and Ida Clare Hoover Achey. She married Carl Villhauer Oct. 18, 1937, in Pasadena, Calif. He preceded her in death Jan. 2001. She was raised in Cedar County and graduated from Solon High School. She and her husband lived in Johnson County until moving to Muscatine in 1989. They returned to Iowa City in 1999. She was a bookkeeper for the Alden's Department Store for more than 20 years, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Women of the Moose and was a Senior Center volunteer. Survivors include two daughters, Margey Upson of Milan, Ill. and Jean Aikin and her husband, Richard, of Hills; two sons, Richard Villhauer of Iowa City and Jerry Villhauer and his wife, Sharon, of Riverside; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Villhauer of Muscatine; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, James; a sister; and a brother.
