Dies October 9
MEHERRIN, October 11 – Walter Lewis passed away Tues-day, October 9, 2007 at his home in Meherrin. He was born October 19, 1921 in Sevier County, TN, the son of James and Belle Loveday Lewis. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and a retired tobacco farmer.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Lena McCarter Lewis; daughters, Betty Ramsey and husband, Danny, and Edith Reeve and late husband, David; sons, Thomas Lewis and wife, June, and James Lewis and wife, Peggy; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Styfurak and Jane Rostis of Indiana, PA, and brother, Eugene Lewis of Farmville. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Leona Dunn, Zelma Johnson and Franklie Parton, and Bessie and Nellie Lewis; brothers, Floyd, Leonard, Mack, and Boyd.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 13, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive friends Friday, October 12, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, is serving the family.
