SIX BABIES CREMATED IN BURNING FARM HOUSE

Mothers Leave Children at Home Alone While They Go to Theatre at Palouse.

Six little children burned to a crisp, and a seventh so seriously burned that death will undoubtedly come to its relief, tells the sad story of a farm home near Palouse, the six little lives being wiped out in the burning of the Schultz home Wednesday night at about eleven o'clock.

The house was occupied by H. W. Schultz and his family, consisting of Mrs. Schultz and five children, four girls and one boy, and by Mrs. W. W. Fix, of Walla Walla, who with her four girls, was spending the summer with her sister, Mrs. Schultz.

Both Mr. Schultz and Mr. Fix were out working with the Schultz threshing outfit, and did not return home nights, and Wednesday evening the two women went to Palouse to go to the theater leaving the nine children, the oldest of whom was a girl 15 years of age, at home alone.

The house caught fire in some mysterious way, the three older girls being awakened to find the building a mass of flames.

All four of the Fix children were destroyed, the children, all girls, being Estha Fix, aged 5 1-2; Lucile Fix, aged 4; Myra Fix, aged 2 1-2, and baby Celia Fix, aged 6 months.

The dead Schultz children are Arthur Schultz aged 6 1-2 years and Gladys Schultz aged 7 months.

Myra Schultz, aged 15, escaped with severe burns. Alma Schultz, aged 12, escaped injury and Rosa Schultz aged 11, is dying from her burns. Four of the little tots slept in one bed and two in another.
