I did not enter the Hagerstown birth place listed on her death certificate on purpose. Her parents lived in Westernport, Allegany County, Maryland area until their deaths. She was also listed on the 1870 & 1880 US Census living in Allegany County, Maryland. The informant on her death certificate was her grandchild, Glen Harvey Boward (1924-2002), he provided the death place. Her husband, Harvey Boward was born in Hagerstown and I think that Harvey assumed that she was born there also.


BOWARD


Ida J. Boward, 1450 North Ave. 44, passed away August 16. She was a native of Maryland and had lived here for 30 years. She is survived by one son, Earl Boward, and two daughters, Mrs. Verona Klinger, and Mrs. Thelma Walsh, also 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Services were held August 20, at Pierce Brothers Lincoln Heights Mortuary, Rev. Alden Lee Hill officiating. Interment was in Inglewood [Park] Cemetery.
