Funeral service for Reverend Bobby S. Holladay, 76 of Tallassee, formerly of Opelika is 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, Opelika, AL. Dr. Jesse Shackelford, Reverend Richard Holmes, and Reverend Dave Barkalow are officiating. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday in Petery Cemetery in Petery, AL. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. Friday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, one hour prior to the service. Reverend Holladay passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at East Alabama Medical Center. He was born April 25, 1937 in Crenshaw County, AL. Reverend Holladay served 35 years as a United Methodist minister in the Alabama-West Florida Conference and several years as retired supply pastor. He answered the call to preach in 1962 as a member of the Bradleyton United Methodist Church and served the following churches, Pike Road, Clio, Goshen, Lee Circuit, Associate First United Methodist Panama City, Wesley Memorial in Opelika, Ashford, Summerville in Phenix City, Millbrook, Geneva, Brundidge, Marion, Camden, Society Hill and Williams Chapel. During his ministry he served on several Boards and Agencies in the Alabama-West Florida Conference. He was a graduate of Troy State University and Emory University. He enjoyed spending time fishing on his boat "Visitation". He also enjoyed building beautiful pieces of furniture in his work shop and raising vegetables in his garden. He had a great love for his family and the churches in which he was privileged to serve. Reverend Holladay was preceded in death by his parents, Ina Mae and Robert Bonner Holladay; wife, Bertha Holladay; and a son, Howard Holladay. Survivors include his wife, Jane Holladay; two sons, Allen (Gayle) Holladay of Opelika, Steven (Jenny) Holladay of Highland Home; daughter, Angie (Col. Scott) Hayes; grandchildren, Morgan(Mary Cathryn), and Jordan Holladay, Bailey Holladay and Marcie Holladay, Catherine, Lizzy, Jade and Myles Hayes; brothers, Billy (Dot) Holladay of Athens, and Benjamin (Linda)Holladay of Hortense, GA. Pallbearers will be Morgan Holladay, Jordan Holladay, Marcie Holladay, Bailey Holladay, Scott Hayes, Howard Griggs, and Mike Knighten.
