Somonauk, Illinois - The Somonauk Reveille, April 17, 1891
" DIED.
Mrs. J. P. Brignon, at her home in the village of Somonauk after a long and protracted illness, aged 55 years 4 months and 23 days.
Her maiden name was Minnie Brewer and was born at the city of Halger Grand, Duchy of Nassau, November 20, 1833. She came over to America with her parents in 1852, living one year at Cleveland, Ohio, and in 1853 she removed, with her parents, to Northville township.
She was married to Joseph P. Brignon in 1856, with whom she lived happily at their home at the Northville mills up to nearly two years ago, when they removed to the village of Somonauk, where she resided up to her death April 12th 1891.
To them were born five children, two dying in their infancy, and three surviving her, vis: Mrs. H. Mailander, of Somonauk, Mrs. A. E. Stevens, of Keytesville, Missouri, and Miss Celestine Brignon who will ever cherish the memory of their kind and gentle mother. Mrs. Brignon whose only wish was the well fare of her husband, children and grandchildren.
The funeral services were held at the Catholic church where high mass was read for the repose of her soul by Rev. Father Erhard, she having embraced the Catholic Faith shortly before her death.
She never murmured nor complained during her long and painful sickness of ten years, but always bore her troubles with quietness and resignation. Four or five days before her death she expressed a desire to see Rev. Father Huth, of Hampshire, Illinois, and old friend of hers and the family, who, according to her wish came at once, and at her request administered the last sacrament of the church to her after which she seemed perfectly reconciled and resigned until it pleased her Heavenly Father to take her away from this vale of earthly scenes to a better land where pains are unknown and her good deeds follow her."
