Maxine Bender, age 89, passed Friday December 14th, 2012 in Sunnyside, WA. She was born on May 5th, 1923 in Prosser, WA, the daughter of Hugh and Ida (Matthews) Lyons. She had 6 sisters and 1 brother.
Maxine went to school at Juanita school, in Sunnyside, WA. Sunnyside is where she spent most of her life. She was married to Henry Bender for 50 yrs. They had 2 children, a daughter Bonnie Elaine Bender and a son Henry Paul Bender (who died at birth). She loved to quilt and to fish & camp with her husband. She also volunteered and received many awards for her work at the Sunnyside Museum. She attended and was a member of Calvary Lutheran church in Sunnyside, WA.
She is survived by her sister Bernice Duke, her daughter Bonnie Bender-Gallagher and son in-law Harry Gallagher, 2 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA.
