MURPHYSBORO — Joseph Cole Kelley, 30, of Route 6, died at 2:55 p.m. Friday, January 22, 1993, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cystic fibrosis.
Services will he at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Koch officiating. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and until services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Berean Christian Church.
Mr. Kelley was a 1980 graduate of Murphysboro High School. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in spring of 1984 with a nursing degree.
He was a registered nurse and specialized and excelled in critical and ICU nursing care at area hospitals, as well as participating in patient transfers by helicopter.
He was born Feb. 18, 1962, in Anna, to Norman and Mary (Hunziker) Cripps.
Survivors include his mother of Murphysboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Randy Smith of Escondido, Calif., and Janet and Mike Austin of Murphysboro; one nephew, Mark King; one niece, Megan Austin; a close friend who cared for him during his lengthy illness, David Yancey; several aunts, uncles and cousins; grandfather, Charles Kelley; and father, Walter Kelley.
His father, Norman Cripps, preceded him in death Nov.30, 1987.
