Mrs. Margaret Forsman passed away in Beaverton, OR on October 24, 2013, age 92.

Margaret was born to Louis and Nora (Lemire) Abbl in Keuterville, ID on March 29, 1921. She was raised on a farm that her father had homesteaded which raised cattle, grain, and hay.

Margaret had known Frank Forsman since they were children, and during World War II he wrote her letters while serving in the Army in North Africa and Europe. They were married in Cottonwood, ID on June 6, 1946. They moved to Vanport, and then to Parkrose just before the Vanport flood, finally settling in Garden Home, where she lived until she was 89.

She briefly worked for Bonneville Power, but most of her life was spent raising and caring for her family. On their acreage in Garden Home they grew fruits and vegetables, did lots of canning and preserving, and essentially sustained themselves with what the property produced for them. She did a great deal of her cooking from scratch, was very big on celebrating holidays with her family.

She was an animal lover; there were always dogs or cats around the house. Her children remember her as being very handy – she could either fix it, or she would teach herself to fix it. Margaret will also be remembered as being tenacious in her opinions and ideas.

Mrs. Forsman was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2003, and by an older sister, Yvonne Uptmor.

She will be missed by a son, Gerard Forsman; a daughter, Marlene Brannon; a brother, Dennis Abbl; granddaughter Heather Lee, grandson John McInnes; and great-grandson Jake Riley Lee.
