Zadie H. Long, age 99, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on October 28, 2013. She was born on October 27, 1914 in Fort Worth, Texas to Levi Wells and Emma (Choate) Wells.

Zadie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Emmett Long; 4 sisters and 1 brother. Zadie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by many. She was a "granny" to all that she met and a true Christian.

She is survived by her four daughters, 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; a niece and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of La Vernia officiated by Pastor David L. Gale.

Interment to follow service at Concrete Cemetery in LaVernia, Texas.
