Doris Maxine McCarty, 92, passed away October 26, 2013. A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home with the funeral service at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Chapel Hill-Butler with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Doris lived in Kansas City, Kan., and married Kenneth McCarty in 1938. Doris worked for USD 500 as a cook until retirement. She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching KU basketball. Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McCarty; daughter, Patsy McCarty; two brothers, Pat and Eugene Leach; father, Roy Leach; and mother, Mona and husband Oscar Burgess. She leaves behind to cherish her memory son, Gary McCarty; daughters, Marilyn McCarty and husband Mike Hicken and Sharon Fielden- Snyder and husband Jay Snyder; a sister, Betty Strausbaugh; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, as well as numerous friends and loved ones. Doris meant more to this family than any of us could put into words. Thank you for your love, hard work and integrity. You were the heart of our family and will be deeply missed.
