Earl was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Robinson for over 60 years. He was a WWII veteran of the European Theater and a life member of both the VFW and American Legion. Earl worked for over 33 years as an Operations shift worker and CO at Marathon Petroleum's Robinson refinery. He was a 1931 graduate of Oblong High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his two brothers, Lyle Lackey of Stoy, IL and Alva Lackey of Robinson, IL. Survivors include his brother Clyde Lackey of Stoy, IL; son, Gary Lackey and his wife Diane of Lucas, TX; grandsons, Todd Lackey and his wife Amy of Allen, TX and Jon Lackey of Frisco, TX; great grandchildren, Amber and Ryan Lackey of Allen, TX; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Earl will be held at 11:00 AM, Nov. 2, 2013 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, 303 East Main, in Robinson, with Pastor George Meese officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Nov. 2. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations to the First United Methodist Church be made in memory of Earl.
