Stephen Surden Arnold and Mary Rolfe (Whitehead) Arnold and stepson of Mary (Hardesty) Mathew Arnold. Seth was the father of seven children with his wife, Melcenia: Horace, Charles, Frank, Mable, Jessie, Wilbert and Seth J. Arnold. Seth was a minister and his wife was a nurse during the Civil War.
