Mrs. Rachel J. McGahan
Mrs. Rachel J. McGahan, aged 52 years, who has made her home in this section of the county for the past sixteen years, died yesterday afternoon at a Wichita hospital following an attack of pneumonia which she contracted Tuesday. Mrs. McGahan was in the hospital for treatment at the time, having been operated on about seven weeks ago. She was getting along fairly well, however, when the new disease was contracted causing her death.
Mrs. McGahan is survived by five sons, Ben, Walter, Claude, Wayne and Isaac, all of whom live at home and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Houston and Mrs. B.O. Taylor, of Leroy, Kansas. The bosy was sent here this morning for burial and funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at the grave in West cemetery at 2:30 o'clock. The McGahan's have lived on the Teter farm three miles northeast of town for some time and are well known in that community.
The death of Mrs. McGahan recalls the fatal accident that occurred to Mr. McGahan just three years ago yesterday. He was hauling a load of feed when he slipped from the wagon and one of the mules hitched to it kicked him in the head, causing his death a few hours later.
