Louis Alexander Speeg, son of Joseph Speeg (1852-1935) and Catherine Roth Speeg (1854-1925). Louis had four children with Hazel Simpson Speeg Ries (1896-1982). They met each other while Louis and Hazel lived with their parents (Joseph and Catherine Speeg and Vincent and Minnie Simpson) on Paddock Ave. west of Reading Road. Louis and Hazel's four children are Paul Vincent Speeg (1913-1985), Joseph Louis Speeg (1915-1941), Dorothy M Speeg Trigolof (1916-2002) and Catherine Speeg Clear (1919-1974).

I have verified this photograph of Louis. One day recently, I was looking at the photo closely, noticing his big feet, tall legs, tattered hat and sweater and I noticed that his hand looked just odd in the photo. I zoomed in and I found my verification of Louis. In his World War I Draft Registration Card 1917-1918, it states under disqualified: 4 fingers & thumb off left hand. Dated Sept. 12, 1918. Looking at his hand closely I saw that his fingers had been cut off at the knuckles. The thumb is not shown in the photo. But here it was, identifiable proof that I had found a photograph of my Grandfather. To the best of my knowledge to-date, this is the only photo of him in existence. How lucky !

Louis Alexander Speeg is the Grandfather of Brenda Speeg, Roger Speeg, Joseph Speeg, Jack Speeg, JoAnn Speeg, and Fred Clear. Roger and I, Brenda, found our Grandfather in an unmarked grave in early 2013. By October 2013 we had a stone placed in Oak Hill Cemetery to mark his grave. Oak Hill is located at 11200 Princeton Pike Cincinnati OH 45246. Louis Alexander Speeg can now be found in Oak Hill Cemetery, Section D.
