MANLIUS—On the evening of December 2d, the Spirit of John Ellison, of Academy street, entered life Eternal.
Mr. Ellison was born April 8, 1878 in the town of Fenner, the son of the late James and Helen Bailey Ellison. At the age of five years he removed to Manlius with his parents and this village has since been his home.
On October 21, 1925, he married Miss Ethel Sweetland of Cortland, who survives.
Mr. Ellison was a member of the Board of Stewards of the Manlius Methodist Church, to which he gave liberally of his time. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. For more than 28 years he held a responsible position with the New York Telephone Company.
In the passing of Mr. Ellison, this community loses a charitable and friendly citizen, courteous and kindly gentleman. Modest and unassuming, not seeking preferment, but doing those things that came to hand with a fidelity that was marked more ready to give of his best than to ask, he held a firm place in this community and his passing
is sincerely mourned.
The stone upon which he built is Christian Character.
Funeral services will be held from his late home at 12 o'clock today (Thursday), with burial in the Cortland Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are by Harry A. Goodfellow, local funeral director.
