Mrs. Bratcher, 39, of Pitkin entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 27, 2013 in her residence with her loving family by her side.

Veronica Batcher, or Miss Roni as she was affectionately called, was a beautiful young woman who quickly and freely gave of herself to all who befriended her. Even more so she is a treasured and beloved family member to scores of people; people who are deeply honored to have shared life with her.

Miss Roni delighted in enjoying God's creation, whether it was from her fishing boat ‘the Ragin Cajun', witnessing stunning sunsets amid the ocean's bounty and the awesome star-filled heaven above or living among the green hills and pastures of North Carolina, she enjoyed all of life! A summer breeze, the ocean mist, or lovely spring showers – Roni knew and cherished that god's material gifts were made for our enjoyment.

It did not escape her that God gave men and women creative liberty and Miss Roni happily embraced the arts of ‘car racing', ‘go carts' and ‘football' among many other leisure activities. She, David and her cherished dogs spent many enjoyable hours following her ‘winners and losers – cheering them all on.

Ms. Rooni gave pleasure and precious memories to those that loved, laughed and cried with her. She is that special person that laughs the quickest and most frequently at herself. An everlasting and enduring treasure was shared with her family on Sunday, October 27 when she declared before men, her love for the Savior and her heart's desire to depart to be with Christ Jesus and her Heavenly family.

To our unspeakable joy and Earthly sadness God graciously honored our beloved's request.

We who treasure Veronica are forever richly blessed and will always smile when ‘Miss Roni' is around, be it in heart, mind or spirit.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mitchell Aikens; maternal grandparents, Violet Lake and Shirley Strother and her grandmother, Maybelle Aikens Carter.

Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband of twenty years, David Bratcher of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; her mother, Janet Strother Aikens of Pitkin; two sisters, Jennifer Cales and her husband, Jim of Chesapeake, Virginia and Monica Aiken of Portsmouth, Virginia and her dog, Ashes.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.
