She was born in Blackford County on April 2, 1920 to the late John Harvey Pursifull and the late Ethel Zoe (Brown) Pursifull. They had nine children and Martha was the last child of John and Ethel to pass away.
Martha married Lloyd Francis Walker on February 9, 1941 in Zion Lutheran Church in Hartford City. He precedes her in death on October 1, 2002.
She graduated from Hartford City High School in 1938. She attended Amber's Beauty School and was a hairdresser, homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
Martha was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hartford City. She was a Charter member of Nimble Neighbors Home Extension Club, where she was a member for fifty-plus years. She was also a member of Wit and Wisdom Club and Winterland Wanders Snowmobile Club.
She received the Indiana State Fair Homemaker of the Year sponsored by Farm Bureau in 1966.
Martha and Lloyd enjoyed International and Domestic Travel.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Gaylen E. (wife, Fran) Walker of English, Indiana; Brenton E. Walker of Dunkirk; daughters, Myrna J'neane (husband, Mike) Sowers of Crawfordsville; Marlene Kay (husband, Ross) Foxworthy of Crawfordsville; grandchildren, Meigan (husband, Todd) Walker-Thornton, Jared (wife, Tiffany) Levy, Alisha (husband, Blake) Foxworthy-Finlayson, Reid Foxworthy, Jordan (husband, Michael) Foxworthy-Messmann; step-grandchildren, Don (wife, Kathy) Miskinis, Angie (husband, Jayson) Mace; great-grandchildren, Aria Warren, Harlaina Knapp, Riese Thornton, Amanda Morrison, Ryan Miskinis, Walker Thornton, Jude Levy, Nathan Phebus-Foxworthy, Grady Finlayson, Hayes Finlayson, Coleston Foxworthy, Madison Mace; great-great-grandchild, Chloe Miskinis; several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; step-grandchild, Drema Lykins; brothers and sisters, Betty Gardner, Bessie Dillon, Laurel Mushinsky, Byron H. Pursifull, Basil Pursifull, Alberta Pursifull, Hasel Snider and Flossie Rogers.
Martha will be cremated.
Memorial Service will be at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church, 308 S. Monroe Street, Hartford City with Rev. David Fleener officiating. Fellowship with family and friends of Martha will follow the Memorial Service in the basement of Zion Lutheran Church.
Memorial Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Zion Lutheran Church.
