This Samuel Bowman was b. in Wilkes-Barre, PA on 31 October 1818 and was the fourth child of Gen. Isaac Bowman, who was b. on 27 Dec 1773 in New Braintree, Worcester, MA. On 19 Jun 1861 he was captured by Confederate pickets after the battle of Falling Waters while on a reconnoiter across the Potomac from his encampment. He was paroled in Richmond, VA. He d. in Wilkes-Barre on 19 April 1889. He was a LTC in the 8th Regiment, PA Volunteers.
