Richard F. Purin, 73, of Washington, WV, passed away on October 7, 2013 at his residence.

He was born on November 14, 1939 in Ogden, Utah, a son of the late Fred and Ethel Farley Purin.

He retired as a chemical engineer working many years for several of the local chemical plants and also taught at West Virginia University.

He enjoyed learning, reading, was an avid golfer and bridge player but most of all, he loved his family.

Richard is survived by three children, John Purin of Ogden, Utah; Cathryn (Greg) Halvorsen of Sandy, Utah; and James (Julie) Purin of Ogden, Utah; ten grandchildren, Madison Purin, Zane, Carter, Grace and Jack Halvorsen, Thelan, Kaiden, Brooklen, Bryn and Candace Purin; one sister, Inez Kraft of Sparks, Nevada.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Trevor Richard Halvorsen.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Ogden City Cemetery.
