Asberry B. "Duck" Maynard was born on June 26, 1867 in Putnam County, Tennessee to Almon A. Maynard and Harriet Bradford (Marynard) (Bullington) (Maynard). He had two sisters: Sarah Maynard and Nancy Jane Maynard Trobaugh. He had four half-siblings: Adur Bullington, Avo Bullington, Charles "Charley" Maynard, and stillborn Maynard.

He married Martha Nanna Maynard and to their happy union seven children: Martha, Robert, Andrew, Asberry, Valley, Almond, and Charles Maynard.

Asberry was a hard laboring man trying to provide for his family's welfare.

God saw fit to put his troubles to an end, closing his life on
December 20, 1937 in Allen County, Kentucky and is buried at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by the strength.

Hear My Prayer, O God; give care to the words of my mouth.

Behold, God is mine helper, I will freely sacrifice unto three; I will praise thy name, O Lord; for it is good. For he hath delivered me out of all my troubles
