NEWARK: A Funeral Mass for Barbara A. Abbott, 74, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 8, 2012, with Reverend JCP Sullivan, Parish Priest celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Barb, a 1955 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School, died at the Arlington Care Center on Sunday, August 6, 2012. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on February 28, 1938 to the late Bernard Sr. and Elizabeth (Hansel) Baker.

Barb retired from Ohio Rural Electric Cooperative where she had worked for many years, and was currently working part-time as a receptionist at the Salvation Army. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she also volunteered with the Ministry of Comfort.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed by her husband of 53 years, James Abbott Sr., of the home; her son and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Vickie Abbott; her daughter, Sue Satterfield, all of Newark; her grandchildren, Dustin (Linda) Abbott, Daniel Satterfield Jr., Ricky Shaw, Jason Gosnell, and Sara Abbott; her four great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Tim Norris of Columbus; her brother and sister-in-law, Bernard Jr. and Randi Baker of Athens, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Ann Shaw; and her infant brother, John.

Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 8:30 P.M.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Salvation Army, 250 East Main Street, Newark, Ohio 43055; or Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, OH 43055.
