EAST PEORIA -- Berneice E. Burcham, 92, of East Peoria, died at 9:55 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, Peoria, the Rev. Jack Thompson officiating. Visitation is 30 minutes prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be made to TAPS or the Association for the Blind. She was born Jan. 3, 1912 in Neponset, the daughter of Edward and Stella (Swearingen) McKie. She married Herschel Burcham Oct. 28, 1939 in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death March 7, 1986 in Peoria. Surviving are a sister, Charlotte McKie of East Peoria; two nieces, Eleanor Empson of Altona and Barbara Gordley of East Peoria; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister and two brothers. She worked at Caterpillar in East Peoria for 30 years, retiring as an inspector after 30 years. She was of the Methodist faith.
