Graveside services for Nelda Allen Romines, age 84, of Mt. Vernon will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Henderson with the Rev. Michael Stewart officiating.
Ms. Romines' grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Ms. Romines died on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Mission Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon. Ms. Romines was born on May 23, 1929, in Sweet Gum, Texas, to Horace Blanchard Allen and Elizabeth Dark Allen. She married Burton Truman Romines on January 15, 1949, in Rusk county. She worked in retail management and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by five children: son, Robert Blanchard Romines, and wife, Debbie; Garry Romines and wife, Marsha; daughter, Barbara Jean Stewart, and husband, Fred; daughter, Vicki Elaine Glenn; daughter Maxie Carol Poling and husband, Toby; three sisters: Doris Miller and Tommie Bassett; and Carolyn Jones; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers: Hubert Allen and Jerry Allen.
